Muhammad A. (Rumee) Ali  | Chairman

Rumee AliOne of the creative personalities of technology dependent modern banking is Muhammad A. (Rumee) Ali who is at present performing responsibilities as the Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC). Muhammad A. (Rumee) Ali started his career with ANZ Grindlays Bank in Bangladesh in 1975 after completing Masters in Economics from the University of Dhaka. In 1997, he was appointed CEO of the Bank’s Bangladesh operations. His career with ANZ Grindlays included stints with their offices in Mumbai, London and Melbourne. In 2000, ANZ in Bangladesh was taken over by the Standard Chartered Group, and Rumee Ali continued as the CEO, Bangladesh of the combined operations of the two Banks. In 2002 he joined Bangladesh Bank as Deputy Governor and was responsible for driving the regulatory reforms in the banking sector, especially in the Risk Management and Corporate Governance areas. From 2007, Rumee Ali served as Managing Director, Enterprises & Investments at BRAC.  During this period he was Chairman of BRAC Bank Ltd. and Founder Chairman of bKash Limited. He also served as a member of the Board of BRAC and BRAC International. He is a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Bangladesh Investment Climate Found; Alliance for Bangladesh Workers Safety (USA). He served on the boards of Global Alliance for Banking on Values and Performance Based Funds Initiative of IFC/World Bank Washington.
He was made a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh in 2001 and participated in many international forums as keynote speaker and panelist.

Firoz A Khan  | Co-Founder & Director

Firoz Khan is Co-Founder of Financial Forum Bangladesh (FFB), a not-for-profit platform that engages different types of financial institutions of the country; and assist them in their journey to reach next level. He transformed his profession from a banker to a FinTech entrepreneur. He founded Finova Technologies with an attempt to transform financial industry in Bangladesh with the use of cutting-edge technologies.
Firoz held the position of Deputy Managing Director of LankaBangla Finance. Prior to this, he was the Head of Retail Banking at BRAC Bank for 8 years. He led his team to introduce the first eCommerce payment gateway in Bangladesh in 2010 and launched the first Public-private partnership initiative in Bangladesh banking industry. Prior to his joining BRAC Bank, he worked with Standard Chartered Bank as Head of Consumer Banking Finance. He served 8 years in ANZ Grindlays Bank & Standard Chartered Bank in different areas. He also participated in various international forums as panel member.
He started his career in Ekushey Television’s Program Management Department in 1999. Firoz attended the Indian Institute of Technology (Madras) graduating with a Bachelor of Technology in Aerospace Engineering and completed MBA from Institute of Business Administration, Dhaka University.

Shariful Islam  | Co-Founder & Director

Shariful Islam is the Founder Editor of Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF), a not for profit initiative in 2007 with the vision of transforming Bangladesh through knowledge, ideas, innovation, branding ethos. Through BBF, Sharif drives the growth of the nation through creating Innovation. Apart from running business community initiates, like Leadership Summit, Commward, Best Brand Award, Digital Marketing Summit; his pioneering initiatives in the field of country branding (Meet Bangladesh- Asia’s Next Big Opportunity, Bangladesh Now, etc.), Women Leadership, and Youth Festival are well recognised.
Sharif started his career as a Brand Manager at Novartis Bangladesh, and later on worked as a Senior Brand Manager at Unilever Bangladesh. In 2007, he founded Bangladesh Brand Forum to pursue his wider vision. He received his MBA degree from Institute of Business Administration, Dhaka University.

Tahniyat Ahmed Karim  | Chief Executive Officer

Serving as a former HR professional and member at the Senior Level Management for over 24 years in the field now, Tahniyat Karim had started her entrepreneurship journey with a mission to serve the society with human empowerment and development by inspiring our human resources. Observing her responsibilities as the CEO at the “FinAction Bangladesh Ltd.” the mother company of “Financial Forum Bangladesh” & “StepUpWiser”, respectively providing FinTech solution and the platform for the next fresh peer group and anyone looking for a divergence in career guided toward their necessary corporate savvy in this competitive world.
As well accomplished herself Tahniyat had been the Head of HR and Admin department at various reputed banking organizations. She has become a well-known figure by successfully performing her duty as the Head of HR at BRAC BANK & Dhaka Bank for over a long period of ten years. After spending a brief period of working as the Coordination Manager at different organizations she moved to ANZ Grindlays Bank later Standard Chartered Bank.
Her career began working as the Public Relations Manager In Pacific Sonargaon Hotel then to icddr,b also with NIPHP which was under the Research Triangle Institute of USA based on health sector as the second in command in the Bangladesh liaison office. Her academic achievement includes Certification on Strategic Human Resources Practices from Cornell University, USA and persisting on being a Gold medalist in receipt of her MBA from Southeast University. Also secured first class first in his Post Graduate Diploma Course in Human Resource Management.
Tahniyat has been well appreciated for her remarks in the banking section and others by being awarded the Annoynna Top Ten Award in the Category of Banking Section in 2009. A proven corporate figure well-trained by several relevant training and development programs in countries like Germany, Canada, Singapore, Dubai, India and others she has excelled and established her own goodwill in the market proudly.
